Repost: Encyclopaedia of the Impossible: The Phone Number

If there’s one thing to be said for the internet, it has an uncanny way of turning mere urban legends into “substantiated” events, much like how some believe Slenderman to be real even though his creator admitted to making him up.

However, as someone who likes to believe we’ll never know everything about this world and its inhabitants, I can never quite shake that nagging thought: What if this is real?

Whether or not this story below is true remains to be determined. All I know is that I didn’t use payphones before, and I won’t be using them now.

“Don’t pick up the phone. And if you must, don’t dial the number. Dial any other number — any other number at all — but not that one.

Whatever might be happening to “Susie” whenever the number is called, she almost certainly doesn’t deserve it.”
