Book Review: Fatal Fetish edited by Toneye Eyenot

High praise for this lil’ number!

Fatal Fetish edited by Toneye Eyenot

Review by Voodoo Lynn

Fatal Fetish is an interesting amalgamation of stories. You get everything from encounters in space to serial killers and sexual cannibalism to clowns, mechanical Jekyll and Hyde’s, yeti, goblins, djinn, redheads, and A.I. I learned new terms like ‘sissygasm’. The stories were engaging on various levels; obviously, some more than others.  Let me also add that there are stories here that you will want to have ready access to a computer because the jargon utilized was such that I was completely unprepared for it and would’ve been lost had I not have been able to look the words up. It did make for a more culturally diverse read, I will admit.

There are plenty of stories here that make the ones you don’t care for, well worth the read. In fact, you may end up losing time over the ones…

I want to know why!?!

Go on. Read it. It’s uncomfortable, and painful, and necessary. I’m not the only diabetic out there waiting on a more affordable miracle.

Juvenile Journey

Yes, big pharma and insurance companies, I’m talking to you.

I’m talking to every single one of you who live in your big, greedy glass houses, paid for by the blood money of every diabetic you hold hostage with your insulin prices and all who have died a painful, excruciating death at your hands.

I want one representative, just one, to tell me why the price of insulin has increased 1200% over the last 30 years (you read that right, two zeroes folks)! I want to know, would you be charging these prices if you had one family member who did not have insurance or coverage for insulin?  I want to know why money is more important than a human life.  I want to know how you would honestly answer all these questions if someone who is taking their last breath due to a lack of insulin was asking them. …

Step Settle
Mark Steinwachs

Step. Settle. Step. Settle. The corn sways in the mid-day breeze, its subtle vibrations through the soft ground giving me cover. The hard-packed road would signal my presence and must be avoided. I close in on the barn, and much needed rest. She’s killing us off like we tried to do to her. Mother Nature’s a tough old bitch. Her method is brutal, releasing a previously unknown toxin from the ground that eats through anything. Your last few minutes spent as a writhing, chemical-burned mess, just like we’ve made her for centuries. We learned quickly. The rich live in the sky, the rest of us…. Step. Settle. Step. Settle. I get to the edge of the field, plotting my course. I should be able to make it before she realizes I’m here. Preparing to push off, my foot slips on the soft earth sending shockwaves below…

Kevin Holton, a Featured Spotlight

An interview with me over “The One Who Burns,” from the On Fire anthology at Transmundane Press. Get some marshmallows and check it out.

If you haven’t heard of the On Fire anthology, this mini-interview and excerpt series will showcase the amazing authors I get to work with and their writing. Meet Kevin Holton.

Banner 3How long have you been writing?

Oh, man, what counts as writing? I knew I wanted to be a writer when I was eight or nine. I joined an online community at fourteen and started putting things up for the web to see, winning little awards and contests along the way. I didn’t get actually published until nineteen. So… a couple years? Ten? Keep that in mind, kiddos—I just got my first novel picked up, ten years after I started writing.

What are the genre(s) of the stories you write and why?

Generally, horror and science-fiction. I just can’t get behind normal literary fiction. Books like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest at least hold my interest because it’s…

When the final curtain falls…
Applause is a deafening sound…
Crystal often explored abandoned locations: homes, psych wards, prisons; you name it. She had a tremendous following on social media. Some might say she had a bit of a selfie addiction as her camera was never out of reach. Of course there would be images of the places she went… but she was always in them. Most of her followers commented on how she looked, not the particulars of the locale.
One evening, Crystal walked into an open field and began documenting a long awaited foray. As she approached the densely wooded area ahead, she launched a live streaming cast of her outing so her fans could not only watch, but converse with her through online comments as she went.
In the comments section, a post from Dustin769 popped-up: Don’t…
